Use Companion

Companion can help you improve your work with ARIS Process Mining. Companion gives you access to a chat with a generative artificial intelligence (AI) directly from ARIS Process Mining. Currently this works through an integration with the latest GPT models from OpenAI, which are also the basis for their ChatGPT service.

Companion provides two options to interact with the AI, the General intelligence and the Your data tab. The General intelligence tab is always available when you open Companion in ARIS Process Mining. The Your data tab is only available in analyses.

On the General intelligence tab, you can ask general questions, such as "what is the difference between population standard deviation and standard deviation?", or you can ask Companion to write an SQL statement for you.

On the Your Data tab, you can ask Companion to create charts or tables based on specific criteria that you want to analyze. The charts and tables created are based on the data of the currently used data set. You can interact with the charts and tables, integrate them into an analysis, or use them to filter your analysis.

Note the following:

  • Large language models such as those from OpenAI provide a highly natural interface because they work not only with programming languages, but also can process and produce natural language. They have been trained on large amounts of text and are not only able to reproduce it but can also abstract and generate something new out of it. Yet, although the answers are almost always well written and structured, they can still be wrong at times. The models sometimes devise things that sound plausible to them. We recommend that you scrutinize any answer and double-check it before you base a critical business decision on it.

  • The comprehensive language models enable real conversation. You can ask follow-up questions and the AI will know what happened in the conversation before. Yet, it has only a limited capacity for maintaining this conversation history. Therefore, in a long conversation, the model might forget instructions given at the beginning of the conversation. In that case, you can just repeat the relevant parts.

  • Companion uses AI. Check responses for correctness. Do not include any personal data as defined under Article 4 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in your input.

Credits to use Companion

To use Companion, you need a sufficient number of credits. When you use Companion, you consume credits. The number of credits you can use depends on your ARIS AI Companion license and how many credits you have available for the AI functions. Credits are refilled once a month. If your credits are used up, you can purchase and update a new license that holds more credits. You can view the current status of available credits in the Overview section of the ARIS Process Mining administration. To view the credit usage, you need the Companion admin privilege.

Prerequisites

  • You have the ARIS AI Companion license.

  • You have enough credit left to use Companion.

  • You have the Companion user function privilege.

  • You have at least the ARIS Process Mining Viewer user role.
