Use variables in analyses using parameters

Parameters defined for calculated fields can take variable values as input.

Procedure. Procedure
  1. Create a calculated field for your analysis.

  2. Add a parameter to the calculated field.

  3. Add a component to an app, for example, a table.

  4. Open the Configuration panel of the component.

  5. Add an analysis criterion by clicking Add dimension or Add measure in the Configuration panel. The Model panel opens.

  6. In the Model panel, select the calculated field containing the parameter you created. The Define field parameters panel opens.

    Example

Model panel with the calculated field added to the Activity object.

    Select calculated field
  7. Specify the parameter value in the Define field parameters panel.

To specify a default value for the parameter, click the input field and enter a value.

To leave the parameter value empty, click NULL.

To add a variable to parameter, click the Variable variable icon.

  8. Select a variable in the drop-down menu. The menu provides the variables created for the analysis.

    Specify variable
  9. Click Done.

You have inserted a calculated field into the analysis, which contains a parameter with a variable you specified.

Example 73.

A calculated field is assigned to the Table component. The calculated field contains a parameter for which a variable is specified. The variable receives the variable values from the Input component via a drop-down menu.
